How do refunds work?

Each tournament publishes its own refund terms, and you see them at checkout before you pay. If you withdraw, how much comes back depends on how far ahead of the start date you do it — that part is automatic.

If the director removes you, no refund schedule applies: the director decides what is refunded, including nothing, and has to record why. Some tournaments warn up front that not turning up may cost you your entry.

Either way you're told what happened and why. Refunds usually appear on your statement within 5–10 business days. The service fee isn't refunded.

Double-registration can sometimes look like a double charge — check your My Tournaments page first to see if you have two active registrations.

If you only see one registration but two charges on your statement, contact us with the last 4 digits of the card and we'll investigate in Stripe.

Do I need to approve refunds?

Accepted Answer

No — there is no approval step. Who decides depends on who ended the entry.

When a PLAYER withdraws, your refund schedule decides the amount and it goes out immediately — those show as "Refunding" and then "Refunded" on your Payments page, and there is nothing to approve.

When YOU remove someone, no schedule applies: you decide. The prompt starts at their full entry and division fees and you can lower it, with a reason and a short note. Record it properly — if that player later disputes the charge with their bank, your note is what we file on your behalf, and a lost dispute comes out of what you're owed.

You can also refund more than the schedule returned — including on a withdrawal it returned nothing for — from that player's row on the Payments page.

Rarely, a refund shows as "On hold with support". That means EliteBrackets support is resolving it — a dispute, or something no schedule could price — and there is nothing for you to do. A refund on hold has to be resolved before you can finalize; email support@elitebrackets.com if you need it sooner.

The platform service fee is never refunded on any path.
